What this word asks of us
A PROPHET WHO ARGUED WITH GOD
Habakkuk spent the entire book questioning God about injustice and suffering. This closing verse is the answer he arrives at after wrestling hard.
TOTAL COLLAPSE, ITEMIZED
Fig tree without blossom, vine without fruit, olive without produce, fields without food, empty fold, empty stalls — six agricultural and economic losses, stacked one after another.
YET
After listing every possible loss, Habakkuk writes the most powerful word in the text: yet. His joy is not a response to circumstance but a defiance of it.
REJOICE IN THE LORD
He does not say he will pretend to be fine. He says he will rejoice — an active, chosen joy aimed at the person of God, not at the state of the harvests.
THE GOD OF MY SALVATION
The final title he chooses is telling: not "the God of my harvest" but "the God of my salvation" — something no material loss can ever touch.
CHOOSE JOY TODAY
